The smallsword is regarded by many to be the pinnacle of stage combat performance.  This class aims to take a multifaceted approach to make it accessible to students of all levels.  From body posture to blade mechanics, the mystique will be broken down and put into manageable elements that allow performers to really dedicate to the violence of the scene.

An exploration of the fundamental skills needed to execute swordplay for the camera.  Using a camera and playback system, students will be able to use the video medium to see how techniques are practically applied, what works, what doesn’t, and why.

“Just slap me.” How many times have you heard this? Or perhaps you’ve said it yourself. In this class we will explore all sorts of ways of slapping each other without having to resort to the dreaded “just slap me.” We will explore the added difficulty of having a slap in a thrust or in the round.

Twister is a game of physical skill where players will often be required to put themselves in unlikely or precarious positions. Twisterbuckling is a game of the same nature, only... with swords. Using a Twister mat and stock Single Sword phrases, this class explores small space usage, how intentions play a huge part in telling a story, and the vital importance of communication.
